Is anyone else here annoyed at the Travelocity commercials featuring a gnome traveling to different places? It is a total 'Amelie' rip-off and everytime I see, it angers me a little! :-)

Unfortunately completely original movies like Amelie are copied so much that ideas in them become unoriginal. I hate it when that happens...

Mon, April 19, 2004 - 1:36 PMAh yes. I agree...the Matrix was another one. The spoofing grew from "imitation is the highest form of flattery" to complete disregard for the originality. This is the same thing.
Hmmm, perhaps we should start a petition against that darn commercial!
Well, maybe not... -

Tue, May 25, 2004 - 7:48 PMSomeone actually did this with a statue of Mary back in the 80's. I’m sure that is where the writers of Amelie got this idea. But, yes, using a gnome is a blatant rip off. -

Tue, May 25, 2004 - 8:26 PMIt is, and it's sad that Jeunets will read no reward, but I still like that it reminds me of the movie, and I ignore the commercial. I didn't even know what it was for 'til this thread.
